General Information |
Area 9 Carthage is the county seat of Smith County, Tennessee. Downtown, you'll find the County Courthouse on historic Main Street. The grounds of the courthouse contain numerous Civil War historical markers and a monument to soldiers who died in the war. Across the street from the courthouse to the north, you will find an antique mall. Across the street to the east, you will find the Gore Lieberman store and the Soggy Bottom Cafe.
New! There is now a Smith County Heritage Museum in downtown Carthage which showcases local Smith County history. You may visit their web site here: http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnsmith/heritage/
Gore Lieberman Store Looking for an Al Gore t-shirt or campaign button? This is the place. You'll find just about every kind of Gore-Lieberman campaign material ever manufactured ... right down to the (slightly premature) coffee mug declaring Al Gore the winner of the 2000 election! Behind all of the Gore Lieberman stuff, you'll also find a store full of nice boots!
