Area 5 Macon County sits on the edge of the Cumberland Plateau, a natural plateau several hundred feet higher than the land to the south. From Drury's Ridge in Lafayette, visitors can look down the "ridge" and get a spectacular view of the hills and valleys. This is an especially beautiful sight in the fall when the leaves are changing colors. We suggest this route for a scenic "circle tour". 1. Start on TN 52 at the intersection of Old Hwy 52. There is a traffic light at this intersection. (Brattontown Circle is the road on the north of the intersection.) 2. Head south on Old Hwy. 52. You will pass Sullivan and Airport Roads on your left. 3. Approximately 1-1/4 miles from TN 52, Old Hwy. 52 will make a sharp right. You want to go straight onto Drury Ridge Road. 4. In about one mile, you'll get a spectacular view of the ridge on your left. The view will continue through several twists and turns for about a mile. 5. Turn left onto Ford Branch. You will immediately start going down the ridge. 6. At the bottom of the ridge, you'll be in a valley and you'll get some nice views of the hills and farmland. 7. About 2-1/2 miles from where you left Drury Ridge Road, Ford Branch will dead end at TN 10. 8. Turn left on TN 10. It's about 4 miles back to TN 52 in Lafayette. You'll go back up the ridge just before you reach TN 52.
